THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE PRACTICE

A veterinary clinic is only as good as the people in it. That was the starting point for this project with CAS Clínica Animal do Sul, a series of staff portraits designed to do something that clinic photography rarely manages: make the place feel genuinely warm before you have ever walked through the door.

The brief was straightforward. Photograph the team with their animals, in the clinic, in a way that felt real. No forced poses, no sterile white backgrounds with a stethoscope as a prop. Each portrait was built around the relationship between the person and the animal they were holding, because that connection is exactly what a pet owner is looking for when they are choosing who to trust with their dog or cat.

Vets, nurses, and reception staff, all photographed with the same attention, against the clean, minimal interiors of the clinic.

The animals, from Sphynx cats and Persian fluffballs to Labradors and Chihuahuas, brought the unpredictability that keeps this kind of work honest.
